| The Chinese OWL (On-line Writing Lab) provides a
professional editing and proofreading service for manuscripts or related
materials submitted for publication. Instead of the traditional way
of editing (using a red pen to mark the text), the on-line editor
thoroughly revises your paper on the computer to avoid unclear handwriting
and also dramatically shorten the time in which the author has to
spend in adopting or rejecting the corrections made by the editor.
With on-line editing, the author can clearly
distinguish the original text from the editor's marks. For instance,
the original text is in black; additions made by the editor are
in blue, and omitted parts are in red.
If you send your paper in Word format (Windows 95
or 97), the author can easily choose to accept or reject the editorial
suggestions by simply choosing "accept" or "reject".
By eliminating the waste of paper, fax machinese and postal fees,
the entire process is done efficiently on the computer.
The Chinese OWL (On-line Writing Lab) offers two
levels of editing, depending on the quality of the manuscript submitted
for editing and/or the author's own personal request.
A. Normal editing: omission of typographical mistakes,
grammatical errors, misuse of punctuation, and misuse of numerical
terms. Also, the author is given alternative words to clarify his
or her intended meaning.
Major editing: in addition to the above, this level of editing includes
simplifying sentences, omitting redundancy, rewriting entire sections,
and adding transitions to make the transcript flow more smoothly.
Editing deadline
The author chooses whether he or she wants the file edited and returned
via e-mail in either five or ten days. Emergency requirements will
be handled on a case-by-case basis. Face-to-face consultation is
also available.
